The Minister of Education, Dr. Rima Karami, announced in a press conference held at the Ministry of Education the cancellation of the official exams for the intermediate certificate “Preve” for this year, pointing out that school grades and an in-school exam will be approved as an alternative to the intermediate certificate exams.
As for the high school certificate, it announced that “it was decided to adopt three consecutive courses, with each student having the right to apply for two consecutive courses. There will not be any elective subjects, but the largest percentage of reduction has been approved in history, geography, and civic education.”
Karami pointed out, “This year has not been a normal year. I am a child of the civil war, and I know what it means for a person to live with anxiety, fear, and instability.”
She stressed that "any decision related to official exams must be based on a real understanding of the impact of students. This decision bears responsibility for preserving the official certificate, and we cannot move toward a complete cancellation that affects the value of this certificate."
She explained that "the Ministry of Education conducted a comprehensive national study on the numbers of official secondary schools that were used to receive the displaced," stressing that "we are proud of the secondary school administrations that did not abandon their students and the completion rate in some subjects reached one hundred percent."
